The Different Types of Body Lift Surgeries

January 25th, 2017 | Posted in: Breast Lift |

As we age, different parts of our bodies begin to give in to the weight of gravity. Our skin begins to loosen and sag, but this isn’t something that we have to live with forever. If you are someone who looks in the mirror and wishes that their skin could be as youthful and elastic as it used to be, then a body lift surgery might be the right choice for you. Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery provides the very best in cosmetic practices to our patients from all over the world.

Here are some things that you need to know about body lift surgery, its variations, and how they can help you.

Thigh Lift

There are many types of thigh lifts, differentiated by the size and shape of the incision used to remove excess skin, fat, and tissue.

Inner Thigh Lift

This type of thigh lift targets the inner thigh. This procedure helps people who have trouble eliminating excess fat from this area of the body through diet and exercise. An inner thigh lift may also be used to address reduced skin elasticity caused by the aging process or extreme weight loss. During an inner thigh lift, your plastic surgeon will make an incision at the junction where the thigh meets the pubic area. This will allow your doctor to access the underlying tissues while making the most discreet incision possible. Your doctor will then remove a wedge of skin and possibly body fat from the region and tighten the remaining skin to provide improved leg contours.

Mini Thigh Lift

If you only experience sagging tissue in the upper third of the leg, you may want to consider a mini thigh lift, a modification of the inner thigh lift technique that involves only a short scar in the groin area. While this technique offers less dramatic results, it produces only minimal scarring and typically requires a shorter recovery period.

Bilateral Thigh Lift

The bilateral thigh lift, or outer thigh lift, is designed to tighten skin on the front and outside of the leg. During a bilateral thigh lift, your surgeon will make an incision at the top of the leg where the lower edge of a bikini bottom or pair of underwear would be, creating a “V” shape. Your surgeon will then remove a certain amount of skin before pulling the remaining skin up and attaching it to the same area so that it’s smooth. This procedure is especially helpful to those who have excess skin after extreme weight loss.

Medial Thigh Lift

A medial thigh lift reduces excess fat and skin on the upper portion of the inner thigh. It is designed for patients who are dissatisfied with the shape of their legs or who would like to remove excess skin after extreme weight loss. During a medial thigh lift, your doctor will make an incision in the groin, extending to the back of the crease of the buttock or to the hip region.

Butt Lift

The butt lift or gluteoplasty works to remove excess skin and fat from aging, heredity factors, or after dramatic weight loss in the gluteal area. Not to be confused with the Brazilian butt lift, which adds volume using fat transfer, this procedure involves only removing skin and fat through surgical excision and liposuction.

During your procedure, your surgeon will make an incision at the top of the buttocks, in the hips, groin, or under the buttock cheeks to remove excess skin and pull the remaining skin taut. Your doctor may also choose to use liposuction to further contour your buttock area or thighs in order to achieve a balanced look.

Arm Lift

An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that reduces excess sagging skin; tightens and smooths the underlying supportive tissue that defines the shape of the upper arm; and reduces localized pockets of fat in the upper arm region.

Incisions are generally placed on the inside of the arm or on the back of the arm, depending on your surgeon’s preference, and may extend from the underarm to just above the elbow. Excess fat may be directly excised or treated with liposuction.

Breast Lift

A breast lift restores a firmer, perkier, and more aesthetically pleasing shape to sagging breasts. This can not only improve your appearance by restoring your youthful, feminine proportions, but it can also help bras and swimsuits fit more comfortably and attractively.

By removing excess skin, reshaping the breast tissue, and raising the nipple and areola into a more forward position, a plastic surgeon can create a more youthful breast contour. Stretched, large areolae can also be reduced during breast lift surgery, creating an overall better proportioned, natural looking breast.

Face Lift

Face lift surgery is a procedure used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and other telltale signs of aging, with the goal of improving the overall appearance of the face and jaw. A face lift can help reverse the harmful effects of time, stress, and exposure to the elements.

During your procedure, your doctor will lift and tighten the underlying muscles of the face to create more aesthetically pleasing contours and rejuvenate the facial structure. Your doctor will also remove excess pockets of fat and skin that can contribute to an aged, tired appearance.

Neck Lift

Neck lift surgery is one of the most transformative procedures in cosmetic medicine. BY removing excess skin and fat deposits from the neck area, and possibly restructuring the underlying muscle, a qualified plastic surgeon can dramatically rejuvenate a patient’s appearance.

Modern techniques and technology allow surgeons to perform neck lift surgery using extremely small incisions, usually placed discreetly behind the ears and under the chin. Through these incisions, excess fat is removed, either by liposuction or through surgical excisions. Slack muscles can also be tightened and a small section of the platysma muscle may even be removed.
