From Sandra, Medical Aesthetician:
Love Your Skin
As Valentine’s Day approaches, I find myself thinking, ‘How much do people really love their skin?’
Do you ask yourself questions like, “What do I need for my skin? What products would suit me best? Or which professional procedure will work the best for my skin?” Well, as time passes, your skin is constantly changing, and so should your skin care regimen. After 10 years in the aesthetics industry, I have learned to follow one simple rule: to love your skin.
It’s not about using a lot of products or spending more time in the mirror, or that laser therapy is the cure-all. All you need is a customized plan for your skin. I know life can be busy, and you tell yourself that you just don’t have the time or money. You can buy new bags, clothes and make up, but taking care of your face takes the backseat. Stress on the skin causes aging. The more we pick at our pimples, the more we get, and eventually that causes scaring. We walk around exposed to UV rays and pollution everyday, and wonder why our skin looks bad. Where’s the Love??? We complain that it’s just ‘how it is’. I’m telling you, it’s not how it is. It’s up to you!
Your skin is unique and as we age the healing time takes longer, especially if you are not using the right products. Put some attention to your skin. Normal skin is healthy skin, healthy skin is strong skin. We need to strengthen our skin and protect it from pollution and the sun. Don’t take your skin for granted. Take care and create a relationship with your skin. If you are looking for results, you need to be consistent. What really improves your skin is your commitment. Are you ready?! Do you love your skin enough? As your body needs food to survive, so does your skin need nourishment to heal.
Laser can breakdown the skin causing your cells to go into action like healing a wound. The more acids, the more it breaks down your dermis. We use a woods lampdiagnostic tool by which ultraviolet light is shone onto the skin of the patient. Here we can see skin damage under the surface, and I can customize a skin care regimen that specifically suits your needs and skin type.
The truth is: less is more. We don’t need a cabinet full of products or spend hours a day to get beautiful healthy skin. All we need is love and the right products customized for your skin and a little commitment. Give your skin a vacation. Spoil your skin with anti-oxidants and vitamins topically. Get a lot of sleep and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate inside and out! Follow up with your medical esthetician from time to time, for customized treatments and products.
I am not just your medical esthetician, I am an artist and an educator who will help you bring out the beauty in your skin, teach you to be patient and have the knowledge of what your skin needs. That’s why I am here – for you, to bring out your beautiful natural skin. It’s simple: prevention, restoration, and protection.
Put the love back into it. Maintain your skin, and it will improve. Educate yourself and be patient. When you know your skin, and have a clear understanding of its needs, you too can love your skin.
Nurture it…Love it.
