Evlauating Your Chin

Maybe you’ve heard that chin augmentation, specifically “the chinplant”, is the fastest growing procedure among both men and women. Much of this is attributed to social media, with skyping and posting photos made with cellphones. Also, a stronger jawline conveys strength, confidence, and leadership. Unfortunately, you don’t feel like you need more chin, but you still want a stronger jawline. What are the options? How can you tell if chin augmentation is right for you?

Pick up a mirror and look at yourself.

On front view, do you see any fullness under your chin or along the jawline? Does it look soft instead of defined? Do you have jowls or fullness in your lower cheeks? If your answer is yes to any of these and it bothers you, liposuction may be a good option to regain a defined, chiseled look to your jawline.

Now take a look at your profile. Draw an imaginary drop line from your upper lip straight down. Does your chin fall along that line? Is it in front or behind the line? If your chin is behind it significantly, augmentation with a chin implant may be just right for you. If it is slightly behind or at the drop line, you can augment the chin and jawline with a filler, like Radiesse, to get your desired look. If it’s in front, maybe you should look at yourself from the front again because you have adequate chin projection.
