When Is the Best Time for a Neck Lift?

May 2nd, 2022 | Posted in: Neck Lift |

4 Minute Read:

A neck lift can be one of the most transformative plastic surgery procedures

With this procedure, the tissues in your neck are tightened, excess and sagging skin is removed, and the remaining skin is tightened to give you a more contoured neck and jawline

All of these corrections can have a significant impact on a person’s confidence and comfort. However, with all of these advantages that come from a neck lift, many people often wonder when the right time to undergo surgery might be.

Below, you’ll find some information to help you better understand when you might want to consider having your neck lift.

Why Should I Get a Neck Lift?

Neck lift surgery helps to correct loose and sagging skin on the neck.

During your procedure, pockets of stubborn, subcutaneous fat can be removed from your neck along with excess skin to give you the defined neck and facial aesthetic that you desire.

While age tends to be the primary reason why the skin on our necks becomes loose and begins to sag (this is due to a loss of collagen and elastin in the skin, which are responsible for our skin’s health, strength, and elasticity), there are other factors that contribute to why you have neck skin that needs to be addressed.

Some of these factors include:

  • Genetics
  • Sun exposure
  • Pollution exposure
  • Lifestyle (diet and exercise)

When Will I Know I Need a Neck Lift?

Ultimately, when you get a neck lift is completely your choice. Some patients choose to correct their neck appearance as early as they can to preemptively limit the amount of sagging they may experience, while other men and women choose to wait until their neck issues have settled in a bit more.

Neither choice is better than the other.

However, if you are upset with the loose skin on your neck and want to regain a more contoured appearance, then it might be the right time to contact Dr. Chiu for a consultation.

When Is the Right Time for My Neck Lift?

Most patients tend to get their neck lift when they are between the ages of 35 and 65. It is during these years that a neck lift will have the maximum effect. And while this seems like a large age gap, it is only because every person is different and unique.

Our skin starts to sag during the late part of our 20s and early part of our 30s. By the age of 35, some patients are already experiencing frustrating loose and sagging skin on their neck. And, unfortunately, outside of plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments, there is really no way to correct this sagging skin.

Once you feel you are ready to regain control of your neck and facial appearance, it is important that you contact Dr. Chiu to schedule your consultation.

At your consultation, Dr. Chiu will answer any questions you may have, develop a surgical plan that is right for you, and discuss when the right time in your life might be to schedule your surgery. This last point is important since neck lift recovery generally takes four to six weeks.

You want to make sure that you are able to have that amount of time free from distractions so that your neck lift results are as dramatic as you expect.

How Can I Have an Even More Transformed Appearance?

While many patients choose to simply have their neck lift surgery as a standalone procedure, other men and women combine their neck lift with other procedures to create an even more complete and balanced appearance to their face and neck.

Some of the procedures that are often combined with neck lift surgery include:

Whether you choose to combine your neck lift with other procedures or not, make sure that you contact Dr. Chiu to schedule your consultation appointment so that you are able to look and feel as good as you deserve.
